Webb City is Home

Our high speed internet was installed yesterday, so we're just now getting around to posting an update on the move. Rachel and I woke up on Thursday morning to go close on the house in St. Joseph. We arrived at the title company, but the buyer's loan processor was running late. So we had to wait about 20 minutes before we could start signing papers. Once that was complete, we had a check in our hands that needed to hit the bank. We went to our bank and deposited the money and got our cashier's check for the next closing for the afternoon. We went back to the hotel to get the family who was waiting to head out.

The caravan from St. Joseph went very well and we arrived in Webb City with enough time to do a walk through on the house before heading to closing. Grandma & Grandpa Humphrey took the girls up to the church to escape the hot weather while Rachel and I closed. We got back to the house about 5 PM and the ladies started in on wiping down cupboards and general cleaning. We had some great help from Scott and Kim Ensminger (Scott is Mark's boss). They brought cold drinks, cleaning supplies, and supper for the crew. More help showed up and we started unloading the truck about 7 and everyone was taking off about 9 PM. The beds got set up and we turned in for the night.

The rest of the weekend, Rachel and Grandma Humphrey put the kitchen in order as well as the toy room. The girls knew this was home when familiar things started showing up out of the boxes. Grandpa Humphrey, Brandon, and Mark worked on moving furniture, returning the rentals (truck & trailer), and general shopping at hardware stores and Wal-Mart.

Sunday we went to services at the new church and came home for a Father's Day steak dinner. After lunch, Grandma and Grandpa Humphrey headed to St. Louis to visit Sarah & John before heading back to LaHarpe on Monday. The rest of the Bond house napped.

Monday morning, Mark took Brandon to Lebanon, MO to meet Grandma & Grandpa Bond. Ruthy & Moriah rode along so Rachel could have a relaxing afternoon at home. We enjoyed McDonald's for lunch and some fun time in the playhouse room. Later in the evening, our family went to supper at the home of Uncle Ervin & Aunt Debbie. The girls loved playing with Kristen and Eric & Faith joined us for a wonderful Taco Salad supper. We made it home with two sleepy girls who can't wait to go back to Great Uncle Ervin's house.

The house is coming together. 90% of the boxes in the house are unpacked...now it's time to get the garage figued out. We are going to have to get a storage shed out back and a lawnmower to get the yard cut soon. I don't start working at the church until July 3, so I am enjoying a slower pace around the house with the family.
