What a wonderful birthday!

Probably the best part of any birthday is having family and friends nearby. On Wednesday, my bday, I started the morning by taking Javan with me to my dr appt at the podiatrist to have an ingrown toenail fixed (the 3rd time in 4 yrs). Okay, so that part wasn't so fun, but I feel so much better now and really didn't have any pain. Mark took the girls and did our Wal-Mart shopping so that was a blessing. Also, Mark and the kids surprised me with some beautiful earrings and a bracelet that I can put the kids' pictures in. Wednesday night was small groups and we headed to that after receiving "happy birthday" calls from Mom & Dad and Meredith.

Friday morning we woke up and drove to St. Louis. We had plans to meet my parents there to celebrate my bday. My sister, Sarah, and her husband John who we haven't seen for a long time and they never have met Javan so it was fun that they would be joining us. I told the girls on Thursday to pack a suitcase because we were going to a hotel to spend the night, but I didn't tell them who we were meeting there! Ruthy finally overheard me on the phone saying that John & Sarah would be there but she missed the part about Gma & Gpa.

We got to St. Louis about 2:00 and pulled in the hotel parking lot for the girls to see Gma & Gpa Humphrey! They were so excited! We got settled in our hotel room and John & Sarah arrived. We played and visited for a couple hours. The girls loved playing in the hotel closet pretending it was their elevator. Gma & Gpa hadn't seen Javan 'in person' for almost three months, so it was fun for them to be able to hold him and make him laugh and smile.

We ate supper at Uno, a restaurant with great Chicago-style pizza as well as steaks, etc. The girls all ate pizza and the men had steaks. Ruthy and Moriah even made their own pizzas by spreading the sauce and cheese on premade crusts. The restaurant came and sang to me and presented me with a delicious dessert, which Ruthy & Moriah were excited to share.

We stayed up as late as we could on Friday night then finally went to bed. We woke up Saturday and enjoyed a great breakfast at the hotel. We went back to our room to feed Javan then packed up our stuff and headed home. The weekend was wonderful and much too quick.

On the way home, Moriah thought she'd skip the nap for some personal attention by mom and dad while Javan & Ruthy slept. We played Simon Says and 'Where's my hand/finger?" (a game Moriah made up where she hides her hand or finger somewhere and I guess where she hid it...could be her hair, under her leg, in her mouth, etc). We played for about an hour and a half. Finally we stopped for lunch and fed Javan too. Then, back on the road where Moriah slept and Ruthy was awake for the next hour or so. It was a good trip though.

Saturday night the girls were so tired they slept all night!!! (something Moriah hasn't done in several weeks for some reason). Javan and Moriah have colds so Javan isn't sleeping well since I can't give him any medicine.

Tonight during our bedtime snack Ruthy asked me, "So, does Satan rest?" It's amazing where these questions come from and how she thinks of them. So, I''m off to look for specific Scripture references about it.

Moriah's out of bed so I'm signing off! Good night!
