Spring Break at Silver Dollar City

After the massive rain early in the week, we took off for a couple of days in Branson. The first night, we enjoyed walking around The Landing area and enjoying a fun meal at Garfield's. They put white butcher paper on the tables and provide crayons for everyone's creativity. When the sun went down, so did the evening temps, so we headed back to our lodge for the night.

The next day we woke up to enjoy opening day of Silver Dollar City. Everyone saved their birthday money from last year to go toward season passes for the 2008 season. We left around 9:00 to go "the back way" to avoid all the Branson traffic. Upon getting to the main entrance, we still waited in traffic for about 35 minutes. We got very lucky in that they opened a new parking lot 5 cars in front of us. Once we parked and unloaded the kids and stroller, the trolley was there to shuttle us to the gate. We were standing inside the park at 10:15. For the first 2 hours, it was if we had the park to ourselves. The kids would get off a ride and be able to get right back on. They loved it.

For lunch, we had packed PB&Js and found a bench area in some shade where we could watch the train while we ate. After lunch, the foot traffic seemed to pick up so consequently the lines did too. The day was perfect with temps in the 70s waiting in line didn't seem so bad.

Finally, after almost 6 hours in the park, we headed back to our van. We decided to go back to the lodge and get packed up and head on home one night early. We stopped in Springfield to eat at Lambert's to enjoy some throwed rolls.
