Rachel went to see Dr. Prawl (our dentist) last week for a cleaning and they found a soft area on a back tooth. They thought they could "airbrush" it (whatever that means). Well, that was scheduled for today, so she dropped the girls off at church while she went.
The girls and I started baking 15 lasagnas for our Wednesday night meal. Our small groups all meet on Wednesdays at 7 PM. We offer a meal for a very small fee for families and individuals that rush from work to be at church. Usually about 150-180 take advantage of this each week. Each small group rotates the responsibility of setting up, preparing the meal, and cleaning up. That only happens twice a year (once a semester).
Anyway, while we were cooking and doing all sorts of fun things in the kitchen, Rachel calls and said they were going to have to drill and fill instead of just "airbrush" her cavity. So she got a shot and would be a little longer. We survived and kept cooking away. Rachel made it to church with a numb lower lip and instructions not to eat for 4 hours.
Our group showed up around 5:15 with jello cakes in a variety of flavors in hand (we each brought two) and we started getting ready. Everything went great! Instead of having french bread, we bought a bunch of Crazy Bread from Little Caesar's (YUM!). Anyway, everyone loved our meal and our colorful desserts.
